Cold-chain delivery now available nationwide
By Store Owner 3 min read
We can now ship vaccines and other biologicals to every province, in validated insulated packaging with a temperature logger in the box.
This is a service we held back deliberately until we could do it properly, because a vaccine that has been warm is the worst kind of product failure: it looks completely normal, the animal appears to have been vaccinated, and nobody finds out until there is an outbreak in a flock or a herd that everyone believed was protected.
What changes
- Vaccines and biologicals can now be ordered for delivery outside the cities we could previously reach.
- Each cold-chain parcel ships with phase-change packs and a logger, and is dispatched only on days that allow it to arrive inside the validated window.
- Cold-chain items are marked on the product page and travel separately from the rest of an order, so a bag of dog food does not hold a vaccine on a loading bay.
What we ask of you
Be reachable on the delivery day, and get the parcel into a fridge on arrival rather than at the end of the day. The packaging holds 2-8 C for the transit window, not indefinitely.
If a parcel arrives and the logger shows it went out of range, do not use the contents. Tell us and we will replace it. We would far rather send a second box than have a vaccination programme fail quietly six weeks later.
Where we cannot go yet
A small number of remote districts still fall outside the transit window we can validate. The checkout will tell you at the address stage rather than after you have paid - and if you are in one of those areas, talk to us, because in some cases we can arrange a scheduled run.
